Outreach & Link Building Specialist
About this role
You'll be the person who gets our clients mentioned on real, trusted websites. Through email outreach, relationship building, and creative pitching, you'll earn backlinks that actually move the needle for local rankings. No buying links, no spammy tactics — just real outreach that gets real results.
What you'll do
- Research and identify high-quality local link opportunities for each client
- Write personalized outreach emails that get responses (not templates that get ignored)
- Build relationships with local journalists, bloggers, and community organizations
- Pitch story ideas to local news outlets and industry publications
- Submit clients to relevant business directories and industry listings
- Track all outreach activity and link placements in our project management tools
- Analyze competitor backlink profiles to find new opportunities
- Report on links built each month with clear metrics on quality and relevance
- Test and improve outreach templates and subject lines over time
What we're looking for
- 1+ year of experience in link building, PR, or outreach
- You can write a great cold email — short, personal, and compelling
- You understand what makes a backlink valuable vs worthless
- Comfortable using outreach tools like Pitchbox, BuzzStream, or Hunter.io
- Experience with Ahrefs, Moz, or similar for backlink analysis
- You're persistent but professional — follow-ups without being annoying
- Good attention to detail — you track everything and nothing falls through the cracks
Nice to have
- Experience building links for local businesses specifically
- Journalism or PR background
- A network of contacts in local media
- Experience with digital PR campaigns
