Local SEO services in South Carolina — rank higher without paying for ads.
When someone in South Carolina searches for a business like yours, the top 3 Google Maps results get almost all the clicks. We get you into those spots and keep you there.
Why your South Carolina business needs local SEO
South Carolina is the market where your service list and your license have to agree. A residential specialty registration covering three classifications means three services, and a commercial Group 1 license means jobs up to $100,000. Websites that advertise past those limits generate enquiries the business cannot take and create an advertising problem at the same time.
Geographically the state splits into the Charleston and Greenville markets, the Columbia midlands, the Myrtle Beach coast, and the York County corner that belongs to the Charlotte metro. That last one matters more than its size suggests: Rock Hill and Fort Mill businesses compete for Charlotte-area searches and are frequently overlooked by North Carolina competitors who ignore the state line.
Competition across most of the state is moderate. Charleston and Greenville have established businesses holding the fundamentals, while the smaller markets frequently have competitors with incomplete profiles, which puts the top three within reach on profile completeness and consistent citations.

South Carolina caps how many trades you may advertise, not just how big the job can be
South Carolina licenses contractors through two separate boards and sets three different thresholds, and one of its rules directly limits what you may advertise. Residential specialty work requires registration above $500, residential building work requires a builder license above $5,000 through the Residential Builders Commission, and commercial work above $10,000 runs through the Contractor’s Licensing Board.
The rule that catches people is on the specialty side. A residential specialty contractor registration may cover no more than three classifications — siding, roofing, drywall, masonry, painting and the rest are each their own classification — and covering more than three requires licensure as a residential builder. So the breadth of services you can legitimately advertise is capped by the credential you hold.
On the commercial side the cap is financial instead. License groups run from General Group 1, limited to $100,000 per job, up to Group 5 with no limit, assigned by net worth, working capital or surety bond.
Match your service list to your classifications
This is the most direct link between licensing and website content of any market on this site. If your registration covers three classifications, your service pages should cover those three. Listing eight services when your credential covers three is not an SEO tactic, it is an advertising problem, and it also generates enquiries you cannot legitimately take.
The commercial groups work the same way in dollar terms. If you hold Group 1, work above $100,000 per job is outside your license, so marketing aimed at larger projects is wasted. Stating the group you hold answers a qualifying question for commercial clients that a generic capability claim does not.
Both boards publish license lookups, which makes your classification and group checkable. That is worth using: a specific, verifiable credential in your profile description does more than "licensed and insured" in a market where the credential genuinely constrains the work.
| Work | Threshold | Board | Limit that applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential specialty | Above $500 | Residential Builders Commission | No more than three classifications |
| Residential building | Above $5,000 | Residential Builders Commission | Scope of the builder license |
| Commercial | Above $10,000 | Contractor’s Licensing Board | Group 1 at $100,000 per job up to Group 5 unlimited |
